| With Santa Clara just a week away, many of the Texas Longhorns decided to stay a little closer to home and compete at the Senior Circuit Meet in College Station this week. While it doesn’t boast the top to bottom talent as Santa Clara, anytime someone like Aaron Peirsol steps into the pool exciting things usually happen. Yesterday was no exception. Peirsol proved he is ready to take back his world record this summer as he demolished the field by swimming to a ridiculous 1:56.91 in the 200 back (not too far off his effort of 1:54.80 at Worlds). Peirsol’s time was 9 seconds ahead of his Longhorn teammate Sean Patton (2:05.31). The world record holder also came back later to win the 400 free in a more than respectable 3:57.96, proving he is in good shape for the back half of his 200. Wow.
