| ROUND ROCK -- Coastal Bend baseball fans' hopes to see a Super Regional at Whataburger Field took a serious dent Saturday. No. 5 Texas, who likely would host a Super Regional in Corpus Christi if they can win their regional, lost to No. 9 UC Irvine 3-1 at The Dell Diamond, pushing the Longhorns into today's loser bracket. Now, Texas (45-16) will have to win three straight games to take the regional crown. The Longhorns, who are the region's top seed, play Wake Forest at noon today in an elimination game. The winner of that game survives to play UC Irvine at 6 p.m. today. The Anteaters (42-15) need just one win to claim the region title. If UC Irvine loses Sunday's late game, it will get a rematch at 1 p.m. Monday to decide the champion. | The Texas Longhorns officially trail 6-5 to UC Irvine in the bottom of the seventh in their Round Rock Regional, which was suspended because of lighting in the area and will be finished at 1 p.m. Monday. Texas is trailing 6-5, but won't be able to finish its Regional game with the UC Irvine Anteaters until Monday because of lightning in the area. With one more loss, the Horns are out. If the Longhorns are victorious when the game is restarted, they'll play UC Irvine one more time for the right to advance to the Super Regional.
