Colt McCoy will play in Alamo Bowl

According to the Associated Press, "Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was cleared Thursday to play in the Alamo Bowl... McCoy's status was in doubt after he severely pinched a nerve in his neck in the final minute of a 12-7 loss to Texas A&M on Nov. 24." This definitely is a good thing for the Longhorns. How much will his presence impact the game?

Texas Longhorns ?Confident? QB McCoy feels good
Quad City Times, IA - 4 hours ago
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Colt McCoy brought confidence and a strong arm to the Alamodome on Tuesday.

The Texas quarterback who has been knocked out of the Longhorns’ past two regular-season games, liked what he saw as he ran his team through a workout.

“I feel great, and I’m putting the ball where I want to put it,” McCoy said after Texas went through its first full practice session in San Antonio in preparation for Saturday’s Alamo Bowl matchup with Iowa.

McCoy, who left with nerve injuries in Texas losses to Kansas State and Texas A&M in late November, was cleared to practice at full speed late last week.

He worked out briefly with the Longhorns on Monday before Tuesday’s more extensive work.

“I’m feeling confident right now, and that’s big. I want to be able to do what I want to do, and I feel like I’ve reached that point,” McCoy said.
