A&M upsets the Longhorns? Are you KIDDING me?

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Texas A&M knows it's not going to beat anyone in a high-scoring shootout.

Instead the Aggies like to play tough defense, keep the score low and put themselves in position to win at the end.

That is exactly what they did Wednesday night in a 46-43 upset over No. 6 Texas.

Acie Law made a 3-pointer at the buzzer with Daniel Gibson in his face to give Texas A&M its sixth straight win.

"We take a lot of pride in our defense and we think that that can carry us because we struggle at times offensively," Law said. "We did a good job of that tonight."

The Aggies got a chance for the victory when Texas' P.J. Tucker, apparently unaware of the time on the shot clock, dribbled around as it expired with 5.9 seconds left.

"It was just bad execution," Tucker said. "I let my teammates down. I didn't run the play right. We didn't get the shot up."

That kid Tucker has got to feel awful right now. They would've likely gone to OT had he not had that brain lock.

Man, what a way to lose a game...

If you had said that about the football team, I would have had to beg to differ...but of course, the basketball team...

I'll admit that it's been more years than I care to admit since I left A&M, but even back then they didn't have a very good basketball team. Baseball yes, football, heck yes. Even their lacrosse team did well, and the school didn't even support 'em. The few times I went to the basketball games (this was in the era of Tony Barone) it was like watching a high-school team play, and the fans had more fun tossing frisbees from one side of the stadium to the other than watching the game.

It's nice to see that the basketball Ags are doing at least credibly well. And yes, if I were Tucker, I'd be feeling about 10 types of stupid right now...
