Post Texas Longhorns vs Ohio State Buckeyes

The Texas Longhorns versus the Ohio State Buckeyes. Does it GET better than this?

UT turns attention to Buckeyes
No. 1 Ohio State bound for Austin for rematch

By JOSEPH DUARTE

AUSTIN - Mack Brown usually lets his players enjoy a victory, but he admits it was hard not to mention the Texas Longhorns' next opponent after Saturday's 49-point win over North Texas.

The defending national champion Longhorns will host No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday. Not since SMU traveled to Austin in 1950 has Texas hosted the nation's top-ranked team.

It also will be the first meeting between top-5 teams in Austin since No. 1 Texas beat No. 4 Arkansas 42-7 on Dec. 5, 1970, en route to the United Press International national championship.

"Everybody has been talking about Ohio State since February," Brown said after the Longhorns beat North Texas 56-7 in their season opener. "Normally we'd rather not talk about the next (game), but in the locker room we told them this is a special game."
So who wins the rematch? The defending champs or this year's top-ranked contender? The Longhorns or the Buckeyes?

I say the 'Horns win this one. Ohio State was jinxed by being named the preseason #1. I didn't see Ohio State play saturday, but I did watch t.u. and they looked awfully impressive.

Ohio State looked impressive two and I've got to go with the Smith/Ginn tandem. It should be a great game nonetheless.

Aggie, everyone looks good against North Texas. Northern Illinois would beat that team by 30 so I wouldn't read too much into that. But, on the other hand, all the receving yards Garrett Wolfe had was alarming. I would suspect Tressel didn't open up the entire defensive playbook against Northern Illinois for the benefit of The Texas game (usually it is the offense he is more conservative with because their talent has been so limited since he arrived at OSU, and the defense could always carry the team). And notice he got the bulk majority of those yards after OSU went up 28-0. Never the less it should be entertaining, OSU has to win this game becuase it could be another 100 years before these two play again and it is ill advised to have a 2-0 series record with them. Saw 'em off.

Prediction: OSU: 28 Texas: 20

I don't know that we would look good against North Texas. I can't wait for this game. Should be exciting. Both teams will be tested.

Oh, man, as if this game weren't already exciting enough, it's now a match up of #1 versus #2, with the still top-ranked Buckeyes facing a Longhorns team that has moved up to the second spot in the latest Associated Press poll. Definitely a lot on the line for both teams in this game - OSU looking to avenge last season's loss, and UT looking to prove that they can still win without Ol' Whatshisname at QB. Can't wait for this one!

Started bad fot UT, but I see a gigantic chink in the Ohio State armour, and that is their kicking game. OSU can't give points away like that and expect to win.

True, but the Buckeyes offense was running so smoothly, you've got to think they'll find the end zone next time around. Now it'll be interesting to see how McCoy and the Longhorn offense handles the OSU D.

OSU strikes first, with a 14-yard TD pass from Troy Smith to Anthony Gonzalez. 7-0 Buckeyes after the 1st quarter.

Re: Texas Longhorns vs Ohio State Buckeyes

TX had a good drive but had to take advantage of a bad call to score the TD. Was 3rd down & OSU guy put on a great rush. Cannot believe they called a personal foul , no way that was a helmet to helmet foul.

Anyway...

7-7. Great game.
