Although the university is saying there has been no official change in his status with the team, Dennis Franchione
appears to be on his way out of College Station. Sources close to the situation are indicating that Franchione and the school are close to an agreement that would end his tenure as head coach at the end of the season.
"Under the agreement, Franchione would receive a $1.9 million buyout as opposed to the $8.5 million his deal calls for after the school hired a private firm to investigate his VIP Connection email newsletter and found three breaches of contract. The value of the buyout has been met with resistance from Franchione."
