Texas A&M - La. Lafayette game

The Aggies are just running away with this one. The score is currently 44-7, A&M, with about 5:00 left in the third quarter. Texas A&M has outgained the Ragin' Cajuns 412-95. Jorvorskie Lane has scored four - count 'em, four - touchdowns, and Stephen McGee has thrown for 200 yards and another TD. This has got to make you Aggies fans out there feel good, eh?

Offense wasn't the problem last year. It has been the defense. That is what is encouraging. Although, the caliber of opponent is less than desirable.

Objectively speaking, how would you rate the Aggie defense so far this year? Will they be able to handle the big boys?

So far they look to be much improved over last year, but who wouldn't. They were horrible last year. Last in all of Div I in passing defense. It was a far cry from the days of the Wrecking Crew defenses of the late 80's and early to mid 90's. The offense is also helping the defense by having sustained drives. Last year the defense spent an awful lot of time on the field because we either went 3 and out or scored quickly. We rarely had long, sustained 8-15 play drives.

Re: Texas A&M - La. Lafayette game

Here are some number I found. They are encouraging, but we still haven't played anyone so I'm not really sure they mean anything.

National Rankings:

Total Defense #8
Pass Defense #1
Rush Defense #69

Total Offense #18
Pass Offense #43
Rush Offense #19

Scoring Offense #12
Scoring Defense #3, tied with Va. Tech

Net Punting #1
Kick Off Returns #5
Punt Returns #46

Pass Efficiency Defense #2
