the Rogers Cup is the big canadian tennis tournament and it has the uneviable position of being just before the US Open. Everyone wants to play in the US Open, so many big time players pull out of the Rogers Cup (men play this year, women play next year) due to "injury".
So Roddick has a strain to his left side - that's almost as mysterious as a hockey injury (he has a "lower body injury"). Agassi just pulled out and I saw that coming a mile away - this is his last US open - does he want to be fit for that or play in the much less prestigious canadian tournament and get injured?
Happens with the women every other year, too. Bummer. Too bad it was scheduled differently, like maybe it would be better to be after the US Open or just not directly before the US open.
Agassi most of all will be missed.
