LONDON, July 8 (Reuters) - Justine Henin-Hardenne came out firing on all cylinders in the women's singles final at Wimbledon on Saturday, taking the first set 6-2 off world number one Amelie Mauresmo.

The Belgian third seed, a runner-up here five years ago, seized control when she broke her edgy French opponent in the first game with a flowing volley. Triple French Open champion Henin-Hardenne dominated the early rallies from the forecourt, striking the ball cleanly and punching away winners as Mauresmo was given a baptism of fire in her first Wimbledon singles final.

Hardenne jumps ahead.

Amazingly enough Mauresmo rallied back for a three set win.
