Roddick feeling healthy, finally

Andy Roddick's right shoulder feels healthier than it has in months, just in time for him to begin preparing for the US Open.
Roddick is in the field at the Rogers Cup, which begins Monday in Toronto, part of the U.S. Open Series of hard-court tournaments leading up to the year’s last Grand Slam tournament.
He hasnt played a match since June 26 and missed the French Open because of the bothersome shoulder.

Re: Roddick feeling healthy, finally

I'm not saying this is so - I'm just floating the idea - it just seems the Rogers Cup always suffers because it is right before the ever important US Open. This summer, the Rogers Cup has something else working against it - the Olympics.
So often the Canadian tennis tournament has fewer big name players - especially the women, for some reason.
Well Federer just lost early on in the Rogers Cup and Roddick just lost yesterday, too early as well - both to no-names - to Gilles Simon of France and Marin Cilic of Croatia, respectively.
I have the utmost respect for Federer and Roddick - really I do - and I can't imagine this is so - but it seems so convenient that these players exit early and now get to recuperate and prepare for the Olympics and the US Open. This has happened previously.
I wish the Rogers Cup could move to a time where it isn't affected by bigger name tournaments but it seems that can't be done. So I sit and steam a bit that this happens.

I am not sure where I heard something like this before, maybe my sister who is a big tennis fan. I think she said something to the same effect about players resting for the Olympics. It seems kind of strange that those two would lose to no names, doesnt it?

yes - and this ain't wimbeldon.
I mean, you said it - Roddick has had a sore shoulder - though it appears better than ever pre Rogers Cup. I just can't imagine these pros throwing a match.
I can't imagine a lot of stuff, though, and it happens.
