Fulmer's Not Stupid

Not surprisingly, Coach Fulmer didn't let the media corner him into making a prediction on how this season will go.

Quote:
"I'm not going to step out there again and make some kind of stupid statement. I want to see what they're going to do on the field. This is a much closer football team right now, I believe. I don't have a crystal ball to tell you for sure."
Every season starts with excitement and question marks. This year has plenty of both for the Vols. Coach Cutcliffe is back and says that Eric Ainge is much better than he's been in the past. Fulmer has personally challenged the offensive line after their poor showing last year. Our defense almost always looks good in the 1st few games thanks to Coach Chavis. The fans will have Neyland rocking with orange against a top 10 west coast opponent.

Fulmer's not stupid. He might not be the best at every aspect of head coaching but he's accomplished more than most coaches will ever do.

Good luck, coach. Hope you & the boys have a great year.

Re: Fulmer's Not Stupid

Fulmer's not stupid. The media, on the other hand... Seriously, they always ask these kind of moronic questions that no coach in their right mind would ever answer. They might as well tell Fulmer, "Hey coach, I've got a noose here. Would you like to try it on?"

Re: Fulmer's Not Stupid

Time will tell how the media will perceive and label Phil. He’s going to be a genius for getting Cut back, rearranging the staff or reestablishing some discipline or he’ll be an idiot for the same reasons in the eyes of the media and media-influenced fans. His record stands for itself however. He’s a good man too. It bothers me sometimes to see how he’s respected by opponent’s fans more than Tennessee’s own with exception to some crimson colored ones. I proud to have him, I hope I still am after Saturday. HAHA.
