Neyland Stadium Changes Seating

Bunch of seat shuffling at Neyland Stadium this year.

Main changes are moving visitors and students around. Some season ticket holders will move too.

Students that were upper east sidelines (sections BB-FF) are moving closer to the field, mostly to the south endzone in sections I & J.

To make room for those students, they're moving a bunch of season ticket holders from I & J to the north endzone, sections Y9, Y10 and Z11. All of which can see the Jumbotron.

To make room for these UT season ticket holders, a bunch of visitor seats will move from the lower level north endzone to the top rows in the upper south endzone. Sections MM-QQ.

I'm sure that some people are gonna have problems with these changes but they seem good on paper except for the visitors. I'd rather have the students lower level endzone for 2 reasons.

1st, we'll have fewer things flying down at us than before. At every game I've attended, there have been dozens/hundreds of items (cups, ice & just whatever crap they can find) being thrown from the upper deck to the lower deck. The visitors do some of this but it's mostly the students. That's not the way to treats fans or visitors & this move will help.

2nd, it makes more noise closer to the field. Some of the older season ticket holders just don't make any noise. They've got every right to be there but it's better for the team if we can have the noise makers closer to the field.

I'm not gonna get to the opener. If you're at the Cal game, let us know how the changes work out.

Anybody think this is a good or bad idea to make all these moves?

Re: Neyland Stadium Changes Seating

More details on the seating changes at the Vols stadium:
Quote:
With the addition of the east side club seats, UTAD needed to move 1,845 student seats and 871 visitor seats from the upper east side (sections AA-FF). UTAD decided this was an opportunity to accomplish a few changes, which have been desired in the past.

"Our first responsibility is to our students," said Mike Hamilton, men's athletics director. "Having a solid student section provides a more encouraging environment for our team and allows our students to feel connected to the university. We feel this student move option allows us to be able to continue to provide our students with more than 13,000 free football tickets, while creating a more cohesive student section."

UTAD began working in conjunction with Student Government Association and the dean of student affairs office last fall to move student tickets originally in BB-FF (rows 23-35) to sections I (rows 11-52), J (rows 1-34) and BB (rows 20-22).

"We felt it was incredibly important to bring students closer to the action on the field not only for increased crowd support but for a more enjoyable experience at each and every UT home football game," said Kristi Bogle, student body president. "This move allows students the opportunity to play a greater impact on the outcome of a game through sportsmanlike interaction with the teams on the field. SGA is extremely pleased that we were able to come to the table with administrators and the athletics department to ensure that the UT student body has the best possible game day experience this fall."

UTAD also saw this as an opportunity to relocate 1,794 season tickets from sections I and J to comparable seats in sections Y9, Y10 and Z11, which gives them access to the newly-renovated north end zone as well as the ability to see the jumbotron, which many south end zone fans have been asking for.

To allow season ticket holders to sit in sections Y9, Y10, and Z11, UTAD moved 1,869 visitor seats from those sections as well as visitor locations affected by the club seats in AA and BB to the top rows of sections MM through QQ.

"As we've traveled around to other SEC schools, we've noticed that many of our peer institutions have moved their visitor seats to the upper deck," Hamilton said. "We felt this was a good opportunity for us to make similar changes and give us an opportunity to improve seats for many of our fans."

Tennessee fans currently located in the top 10-12 rows of the south end zone upper deck were moved down to lower rows.

Re: Neyland Stadium Changes Seating

Welcome to GoTeamsGo, idaho fan.

Not 150,000. But Neyland is one of several football stadiums that holds 100k. I think you've got to get to soccer stadiums to get up to 150,000 seats.
