How is Kiffen doing?

We are well into the off season and lots of changes have been made at Tennessee. What kind of grade do you give Lane and Father Kiffen on their staff and players they have brought to Tenn? Me, I think we have a good staff in place right now at Tennessee. Given that it was his first recruiting stint as a coach in the SEC, I think Lane has done a super job. I like his attitude and I absolutely love the fact he has already φφφφed Urban Meyer off. Now, I am waiting to see what kind of team he puts on the field next year. So, what kind of grade do you all give Lane Kiffen? VOLS RULE!!!!!

Re: How is Kiffen doing?

With the staff he has assembled thus far, it will be a short matter of time before he turns things around. I will make no predictions but he may be the most refreshing face to come to UT, next to Bruce Pearl, in a long time! Monty will recruit big, lighter, & quick players on defense who can get to the ball in a hurry.

I am curious as to what Phil is doing now?

Lane & Co. are making strides for our Vols. I cant wait to see how the recruiting goes next year after he is grounded and has time to get things the way him and his dad want. For no more time than they had they grabbed or stole,(which ever way you want to look at it) several top players and over all did a super job of attracting talent to the Great State of Tennessee. The staff is ,,,,,,well its probably one of the best in the country on paper. We will have to wait a couple years probably before we will know how all this works out for the Vols, but I like what I see so far. And as far as Phil goes, he is doing exactly what he said he would do for a while, and thats "be hard to find". VOLS RULE!!!!!

How many times have we heard how great the recruiting class was from the Fulmer years?? And what were they able to do in developing all that 'talent'? Absolute mediocrity without the help of David Cutcliffe, the real genius behind the national championship. Peyton Manning, Tee Martin, etc, etc....

Re: How is Kiffen doing?

I think CLK is doing fine. Recruiting turned out to be even better than most expected and from what the beat writers in Knoxville seem to be writing, he's really got them practicing hard. I think he's going to be great if we give him time to get this going again.

I dont know of a coach anywhere in college football that wasted more talent by not developing it the way it should have been developed. Phil DID have some awsome recruiting classes and never got the full potential from the players he got. Cutt is an offensive guru on developing talent. So, its no suprise that the Vols did better when he was on board. I consider both Kiffens as talent developers. Look at what both have done when they were involved in the rucruiting and development of the talent they find. Lane was right in the middle of the team that was built at USC, and the elder Kiffen has produced some of the top NFL defenses any of us have seen. Owencarpet is right I think, things are going to be different in Knox, Lane is definatly not Phil. VOLS RULE!!!!!

The one big question on my mind about the Vols is STILL at QB. Lane made the statement that he was satisfied with the QB's he had to work with, which is the same as saying he doesnt blame the QB's we have for the circus all Vols fans had to endure last season. How he develops our QB's in the off-season will speak volumes about his ability as an offensive coach. VOLS RULE!!!!!

I just think Fulmer was so terrible at developing talent.

Lanes comment about all the fuss he is stiring up. As he put it,"At least people are looking and talking about the Vols". Everybody was talking about all the completions to the cheerleaders last year, and this year its all about the crap Lane is stiring up. I'll take this years talk over last years talk anyday. Oddly enough, Lane is starting to remind me of another coach in the SEC that kept everone φφφφed over what he was saying, and doing,etc... I hate to say it, but he is starting to remind me of little Stevie Spurrier. Getting recruits nobody thought he could get, φφφφing in the other SEC coaches cheerios on a weekly basis. I LIKE HIM ALLREADY. VOLS RULE!!!!! He's turning out to be a good Gator Hater allready, he cant be all bad, huh?

Re: How is Kiffen doing?

If He Keeps Playing That No -talent Qb Crompton He Will Not Be Doing To Good. I Heard A Few Boo Birds Saturday. If He Does Take Crompton Out . Kiffen May Be The One Being Booed. I Truly Believe If He Would Have Jerk That Dope Crompton Out .tennessee Would Have Beat Ucla. Like I Said Before Crompton Pees His Pants When There Any Pressure Or Stress Like Throwing The Ball To His Team Mates (you Know The Guys Wearing The Same Uniform As You) I Think It Was Pretty Close He May Have More Passes Caught By Ucla That His Own Team. (4 )turn Overs And When They Did The Interview He Said Turn Overs Happen.i Surprized That He Can Talk And Walk At The Same Time. Good Thing They Had Him Setting When They Did The Interview And The Mic Was On A Stand He Would Fumbled It. ....

Re: How is Kiffen doing?

As a coach who only has 2 games under his belt (1-1) he's not doing to bad.

1st game-Vols played great football against a week team

2nd game-Vols Turned the ball over 4 times but still managed to stay in the game in a losing effort against a respectable UCLA team.

Re: How is Kiffen doing?

What Would Have Been The Problem Of Letting Another Quarterback Play Against Ucla After Crompton Throw That Last Pick. It Was Fairly Clear That Kiffen Didn't Trust Crompton After. You Could Tell By The Plays Calling. If Ucla Had Not Been Off Sides Crompton Would Have 4 Picks. Remember He Had 2 In The First Game. He Does Move Well Linemen Keep Knocking His Passes Down. I Thik The Line Let Crompton Down Too. In Fact The Only Part Of The Offense That Did Ok Were The Running Backs.

Well you cant pull your qb outa the game everytime they mess up even if they throw 3 ints.I can see Kiffin puting Nick Stephens in down the road if Crompton dont improve.
