| Taylor among Vols' six academically ineligible players for Outback Bowl The hits keep coming for Tennessee's football team, as coach Phillip Fulmer announced Friday that six scholarship players would be academically ineligible for the Outback Bowl. The Vols' leading receiver, Lucas Taylor, is ineligible to play against Wisconsin on Jan. 1 as well as reserve receiver Kenny O'Neal, reserve defensive back Ricardo Kemp and freshman linebacker Chris Donald. ESPN.com reported on Thursday that defensive starters Demonte Bolden and Rico McCoy failed to meet the necessary academic requirements to play in the Outback Bowl, too. | Yes things have been going down hill very rapidly for Phillip Fulmer, 6 years row now Quote:
That's too bad. 5-Losses going to be ranked what ? No. 23 ? No football program in America has more bowl losses than the vols' 22 Bowl Losses coming into the game. And, Phillip Fulmer will have Lost 7 of his last 10 bowl games going back to 1999, if he loses this one. Wisconsin beat not 1 single BCS Final Top 25 team and only played the No. 48 Official NCAA strength of schedule, so I had the vols beating the opening Las Vegas line of the vols losing by 3 and a half points because the vols beat UGA. But, that is the only game all season long that the vols beat a BCS Final Top 25 team. With 6 SEC ranked teams in the BCS Final Top 25 and Arkansas ranked in some of the other Top 25 polls such as No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches' Poll, where do the vols finish this season in comparison with these other 6 SEC Top 25 ranked teams ? In the bottom half of The SEC. The losses to two 6-6 teams California and Alabama by blowouts was bad enough. And, the blowout loss to Florida was atrocious. All those 3 losses on the road as was LSU and now to Tampa at 11:00 for your 5th loss, and half a dozen of your scholarship student-athletes FLUNK OUT. That's 7 percent of your roster. And, Phillip Fulmer says the good news is all the dumb bunnies will be back in Spring Semester. It's been a long cruel run of six (6) Consecutive Years now that the vols have been ranked worse than the Georgia Bulldogs in the Final AP Poll. And, of course, we all know that coming into this season that the vols had the worst Academic Progress Rate in the entire SEC and barely avoided losing scholarships May 2007. NCAA - 2005-06 Academic Progress Rate (APR) Data for NCAA Schools What's next for Phillip Fulmer ? Another round of felony arrests ? Trooper Taylor quit Tennessee football Friday to coach Receivers at Oklahoma State, David Cutcliffe quit Tennessee football the week before to go coach at Duke for God’s sake, and now 7 percent of your football team is academically ineligible to play even at 11:00 a.m. for your 5th loss of the season. Nice. All but Chris Donald are Juniors or Seniors Spring Semester Phillip Fulmer, and they all were troubled players academically before you recruited them. And, then there is the LaMarcus Coker drug addict being kicked off the team in addition with his 123 all purpose yards per game this season after leading the vols in rushing last season. http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/080807/football_20070808079.shtml #98 Demonte Bolden had 2 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and 26 tackles this season including 5 tackles for a loss while playing in 12 games this season. #23 Ricardo Kemp played in all 13 games this season, had an interception with return, 2 sacks, 13 tackles with 2 tackles for a loss and a pass break-up. #5 Rico McCoy also played in all 13 games, had 106 tackles of which 5 were tackles for a loss including a sack, a forced fumble, a quarterback hurry, and 4 pass break-ups. #1 Kenny O’Neal played in 12 games too for the vols this year, ran the ball several times, and caught several passes including a 49-yard long TD pass. #12 Lucas Taylor played in all 13 games too, had 1,000 yards receiving, 5 TDs, also ran the football for the vols this season, threw a 56-yard TD bomb, and had over 1,000 yards of total offense and a solo tackle. Geez Louise. These are all Juniors and Seniors now in the Spring folks – key members every one of the vols team this season, quite obviously. Phillip Fulmer continues to recruit players whom he knows full well have off-field issues, and at key moments like this, they pull these kind of stunts exactly as everyone else who did not recruit them knew they would. Phillip Fulmer’s recruiting for February Signing Date is Ranked Number 43 in the nation. 43. http://georgia.scout.com/a.z?s=135&p=9&c=14&yr=2008 Therefore, everyone fully expects Phillip Fulmer to again next season sign more of these troubled teens. And, what is worse yet is that The University of Tennessee at Knoxville allows them in anyway. Bad week ? It’s been a bad 6 year run now in a row consecutively for the vols’ Phillip Fulmer – and, counting. |
