Heath Shuler Running For Congress

Former Vol Quarterback Heath Shuler is running for Congress in his home state of North Carolina.

Heath didn't do well in the pros but he was a model student athlete at UT. Tremendous athlete and one of our Vols Heisman Trophy runner ups in 1993. Never in trouble, All American, well spoken, successful businessman.

His website doens't have any info on his political stances (he's a Democrat), but he's got a high degree of built in trust just based on character. And name recogntion never seems to hurt when you're running for office.

I wouldn't be surprised if Heath Shuler is elected to Congress in Western North Carolina's next election.

Re: Heath Shuler Running For Congress

This is from an AP article on Shuler's announcement:

"Far too many families in western North Carolina are struggling to earn a decent living, educate their children, and pay for health care... Congress is spending too much time playing partisan politics, instead of working to find solutions to the real problems facing our families."

By the way, while I was looking for this, I came across a site where one kid suggested that the Republicans "should find Gus Frerotte and run him against Shuler". Too funny!
