SEC East race opens up as teams lose in league

KNOXVILLE — The Tennessee football team received a confidence boost Saturday, and the Vols didn't even play a game.

"It's a new ballgame in the SEC East race right now," Coach Phillip Fulmer said. "We need to take advantage of it and do our part. We can only do that by getting better where we need to get better and get ready and just focus on Georgia.

The SEC East is there for the taking now that five of the six teams have one loss in the league. Kentucky leads the division with a 1-0 record but still has games against South Carolina, Florida, LSU, Georgia and Tennessee.

Auburn gave UT new life by defeating Florida 20-17. The Gators, who beat UT 59-20 play at No. 1 LSU on Saturday.
