Tennessee tackle Chris Scott isn't about to be mistaken for a lightweight.
But he's no Grady Jackson either. At least not anymore.
Scott, a redshirt sophomore and former U.S. Army All-American from Lovejoy High School, is slated to start at offensive tackle this season. He might have played earlier had he shown up two years ago in decent shape. Instead, he arrived in Knoxville weighing in the neighborhood of 360 pounds.
He's moved to a much more playing-friendly neighborhood of 315 now.
"Chris knew what he needed to get done," Vols offensive line coach Greg Adkins said. "He was overweight. He knew what he had to do to play at this high level. And it was to totally redefine his body. We knew he'd gain confidence when he lost weight."
