Monica Abbott threw her 22nd career no-hitter as Tennessee defeated Hawaii 9-0 in Game 1 of their NCAA Super Regional at Tyson Park.

"My hat's off to our team," said Co-Head Coach Ralph Weekly. "We challenged our players all week. They worked hard, prepared, and tonight's a good night for the Lady Vols. But the tournament's certainly not over."

Freshman first baseman Tiffany Huff did the major damage against UH by registering a 2-for-3 night with a career-high five RBI, while junior third baseman Tonya Callahan was a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and two doubles.

22 career no-hitters? Holy cow! And furthermore, according to this story, "Abbott struck out 10 in the five-inning complete game shutout. Abbott now sits just 24 K's from equaling the NCAA single-season record held by former Southern Miss hurler Courtney Blades (set in 2000)." I'm guessing she must be a senior, although it doesn't say for sure. That's one heck of a collegiate career.

Wow, 22 career no hitters!! That's truly an amazing feat and all from one player!! Jeez, she'll definitely make it into the pros if there is a professional team for softball. I know that there's a Team USA but I'm not sure about softball leagues since I don't follow the sport.
