Vols 2006 Football Season

So from the outside looking in, this football team appears to be a mess. Whats the consensus down in Knoxville? Are Vols fans optimistic about this upcoming season?

Re: Vols 2006 Football Season

While I'm usually the eternal optimist, I think we're gonna have a rough year. I really hope Fulmer & Coach Cutt can get it done but the poor recruiting class makes me think things may either stay down or get worse before they get better.

Especially in the ever challenging SEC, which is hands down the best conference, year-in, year-out. I personally thought Auburn going undefeated in 2004 was more impressive than anything USC or Texas did last year. This simply reflects how their struggles last year might reappear in the 2006 season.

What has me scared is the lack of information coming out of spring training.

Re: Vols 2006 Football Season

i havent seen a lack of info, i have heard a lot. what i heard is the defense is playing great once again. but i heard the offense is terrible again. but they are without foster and some other key players. i just think they need to put ainge on the bench and go with crompton. i dont think ainge is ever gonna pan out to be a great qb in the sec. i do feel like cutt will eventually get things together. they didnt have to have a great recruiting class, they already have the talent there to compete, just need a qb to get the guys the ball.

oh, and also heard that former b-ball player asumnu is on the team and playing wide receiver. they say that he looked really good in practice and had two outstanding catches for scores.

Re: Vols 2006 Football Season

Well, I don't care if we lose every other game as long as we beat those Bama boys!

hehe, just kidding I see there's been a bunch of Tiders checking out this thread on the outlook for the Vols.

Welcome to the GoTeamsGo Vols board, visitors from TideSports

How about sharing a little about the 2006 Alabama Football Schedule with us? I've been so busy feeling lousy about the Vols, I've not really heard what you guys have in store for us & the SEC this year. Register so you can post and click over to the Alabama football schedule thread I've started. Tell us what you think 2006 will be like for the Tide.

After watching the Spring Game, I would have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I was particularly impressed with Eric Ainge's focus and execution on most of the plays. A lot can happen between now and September and if they can sure up the offensive line...this can still be a good year.

Hi legalarry, welcome to GoTeamsGo

Did you get up to the game? I saw a bit of the coverage on the news but you can't really tell anything from a 45 second bit on TV.

Seriously, Ainge looked good? Don't get my false hopes going

Re: Vols 2006 Football Season

Cable TV covered it yesterday in full. Ainge appeared to be much more confident and certain of the offense. Cutcliff will be a good fit for him...a more hands on coach.
