REBELS WIN MARATHON; DEFEAT VOLS 4-3 IN SIX-HOUR MATCH
CSTV.com, NY - 7 hours ago
The seventh-ranked Ole Miss Rebels had just little bit more in the tank Friday night as they battled back to outlast Tennessee 4-3 in a six-hour match at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center.

The match was moved indoors because of the cold weather in Knoxville, so when UT's Kiril Tcherveniachki and Ole Miss's Kalle Norberg took the court for their match the Rebels already had a 2-1 lead. The two players battled incredibly hard and no point went uncontested the whole match, by the time Tcherveniachki won the first set in a tiebreaker all the other matches had finished and both players knew the match would come down to them. Norberg would take control in the second set, winning 6-3. In the third set, Norberg jumped out to a 3-0 lead and repeatedly squashed any hope Tcherveniachki had of coming back, eventually winning the set and the match 6-7, 6-3, 6-2.

The Vols captured the doubles point in dramatic fashion when Bo Hardegree and Tcherveniachki came-from-behind not once, but twice, to clinch the point over the Rebels Jakob Klaeson and Robbye Poole. The UT duo found themselves down 7-5 but rallied back to take an 8-7 lead. After the Rebels tied the match at eight, the Vols found themselves down 5-2 in the tiebreaker but the UT duo once again rallied back to win the tiebreaker 8-6 and give UT the early 1-0 lead.
