Selection Sunday Arrives For Vols

KNOXVILLE, TN (WVLT) -- With it's dismal showing during the men's SEC Tournament behind it, the University of Tennessee basketball team was back to practice Saturday on campus.

Vols' head coach Bruce Pearl is looking forward to hearing his team's name called Sunday night during the NCAA Selection Show.

Because he knows it will be called.

"It is always a very, very exciting time except when you know your name is not going to be called," said Pearl.

The Tennessee Volunteers (22-10, 10-6 Southeastern Conference) were selected as a No. 5 seed in the NCAA South Region where they face the Long Beach State 49ers of the Big West Conference in Columbus, Ohio, in the first round beginning March 16. This is UT's 15th NCAA appearance overall, second straight and sixth in the last 10 years. The Vols own an 9-15 tournament record. Game times will be announced Monday by CBS which will televise the entire tournament.
