| Phillip Fulmer Contract Extension University of Tennessee Athletics Director Mike Hamilton announced Thursday that Head Football Coach Phillip Fulmer has been awarded a two-year contract extension -- extending his contract through 2013 at his current salary of $2.05 million a year. "In a world where coaching changes appear to be coming more frequently, Phillip brings a tremendous amount of stability to our program and we feel Tennessee football is well-positioned for the future," Hamilton said. "I'm proud of everything Phillip has accomplished at Tennessee, and I look forward to working with him and our staff to bring us another national championship." | Re: Phillip Fulmer Contract Extension Unbelieveable!!!!!!!!!!!!! When was the last time Coach Phillip Fulmer won an SEC Title? Here's a hint the UT NC is almost a DECADE old. When was the last time he won the SECE? When was the last time he won a decent Bowl Game? Heck...we barely beat KY for 2nd in the SECE last year. I suppose with the scores of NFL Teams knocking on his door, Hamilton HAD to lock Fulmer in....yeah that was a joke. Yes, yes I know we had a super recruiting class (why wouldn't we) BUT when will CPF & his Staff do something major with all that talent? It's not like UT doesn't have everything in place...i.e. 100,000 plus stadium, great facilities, money, national recognition, huge fan base, almost weekly tv exposure (many nationally), $$$, tradition, great conference, etc. Thank goodness we have CPF locked in. What fresh, aggressive, innovative, hungry, progressive coach would want a program like that? |

| Re: Phillip Fulmer Contract Extension KV Quite honestly UT under Fulmer has become a very average team, that's capable of beating most simply w superior talent & depth. Capable, aggressive, progressive, creative coaching or scheming certainly has been void for years... |

| Re: Phillip Fulmer Contract Extension T4B I'm certain from Alabama's perspective you are correct. But it sure to heck would be nice to see some mighty fine recruits do more than the same old 30 year old offensive plays. Most have long since figured out all 8 plays (including most 10 year old UT Neyland Stadium Fans) certainly most opposing defensive Coaches...since about 1992. On second thought those same old 8 plays can make a Dad look like a genius to his 8-9 year old son. Amazing how that works. By the way what is the latest with Protro (?spelling) will he be able to play this season? A great talent & from my understanding a good young man... To stick w the thread subject, AL has had no choice in some of it's Coaching divorces. However the last case, in my opinion, was pretty weak. Like Mike or not, he put up with a lot of b.s. throughout his entire tenure at Alabama. Yes, I agree Fulmer CAN recruit, innovative COACHING is his only problem. |
