KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Pat Summitt wore an orange cheerleader uniform, sang "Rocky Top" and stood on top of a human pyramid to show her support of the Tennessee men's basketball team Tuesday night.

The legendary Lady Vols coach came through on a promise to make a special appearance during the men's game against No. 5 Florida.

She was paying back men's coach Bruce Pearl for painting his upper body orange and cheering at a Lady Vols game last month.

Summitt came out during the first media timeout of the game shrouded by other cheerleaders and started singing "Rocky Top" while holding a microphone and wearing an orange and white feathery hat and cheerleader uniform.

"America got a chance to see a side of Pat Summitt that they probably haven't seen since she was in eighth grade," Pearl told reporters after the game. "Pat is a lot of fun to play for. OK, she's demanding and she can be real tough at times, but let me tell you something, she's as kind and as sweet as a person as I know. She didn't disappoint."

I know yesterday morning, Summitt was taking a lot of heat for planning on doing this. Skip Bayless of ESPN's Cold Pizza ripped her up and down, suggesting that this would ruin her credibility. Personally, I think that's a bunch of hooey -- NOTHING could run Pat Summitt's credibility -- but I want to know what you guys think about this? Harmless bit of fun or embarrassment to the Lady Vols program?

It was just something fun. Actually, it made her look a little human in my eyes. I always thought of her as a little militant. She is a great coach having fun. Skip Bayless needs to keep his mouth shut. Nothing could tarnish the rep she built.

The Article I read on her in SI a few years back did not make her sound fun at all...

I think I may have read the same article. That is why I always had that opinion of her. This just showed that she does have another side.

Very nice unity that UT is showing between the big basketball programs. Pearl has been very good at helping out in his tenure there.
