It took Bernard King 30 years to return to the University of Tennessee once he left; it won’t take the ESPN broadcasting crew nearly that long. The Vols’ crowd-pleasing style of play will ensure that.

“Do you think ESPN likes what they saw? I promise they do,” UT head coach Bruce Pearl said moments after his team upset No. 20 Kentucky 89-85 Tuesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena. “ESPN will continue to come back if we can continue to deliver this kind of basketball, and that's going to continue to bring good student-athletes to campus.

"This is what I was hoping for (when he took the UT job nearly two years ago).”

I find it somewhat interesting that the Vols and Bruce Pearl were so focused and concerned on impressing ESPN. You'd think that as good as the team was, they'd cover a lot of UT basketball games. So is that not the case? Why the attention grabbing?

It dates back to how ESPN led the charge to screw Peyton Manning out of the Heisman trophy. It's a combination of we want the exposure but many, many SEC fans firmly believe that ESPN has a pervasive anti-SEC attitude. I think they've only had college gameday on campus once since they stole Peyton's Heisman.
