Trooper Taylor to Howard University as Head Coach?

Several of UT's big boosters, are adamantly seeking any current info on Trooper. Howard is going to pay $250,000 for its head coach. Hamilton's position is that more money will be provided for assistants but he evidently doesn't realize the absolute necessity of keeping Trooper, saying the head coach, with input, makes those decisions.

One person who had talked to Trooper, a good friend of Trooper, said, and this was several hours ago, "it doesn't look good."

Rodney Garner is a close friend of Trooper. Troop knows what Rodney makes, as more or less the main recruiter on Georgia's staff, $250,000, 3rd behind Richt, one coordinator, and then Rodney.

Trooper's present salary is approx $135,000, while Roper and Luke's are $125,000 and $130,000. Supposedly Troop has gotten or will receive another $30,000 bonus, but, even if that $30,000 is true, that's still approx $90,000 behind Rodney Garner.

Re: Trooper Taylor to Howard University as Head Coach?

See, I just don't see him going for several reasons.

I hear he wants to be a head coach but I think a better path would be to move up & continue to make a name for himself in a big time program. Sure it's a HC spot but it's Howard, not even a Southern Miss or Central Florida.

He's done a great job on the recruiting trail this year and I hope Fulmer would not let him go at such a critical time.

He's been good with the WR's but only ok with the RB's. I think he could use some more time honing his skills as a UT coach.

If getting a good HC spot is his goal, I don't think that $165k vs $250k is a deciding factor.

I don't think he leaves.

"Only Ok" with the RB's? The year he was over them is the only time in the HISTORY of Tennessee that they had two 1,000 yard rushers. I'd say he did pretty darn good with them.

Looks like Taylor is sticking around after all, and Howard has to find their head coach elsewhere.

Your kidding , right? You could have put any bum off the street in there to coach those thouroughbreads and they would have been equally as successful.

Gerald Riggs and Cedrick Houston......remind me what they are doing now.

"thouroughbreads" isn't exactly how I would explain them. Also, what did they do the year before?

Re: Trooper Taylor to Howard University as Head Coach?

Riggs was a Parade All-American, it really doesnt take much coaching to get that HUGE of a recruit to rush for 1000 yards. WHat is he doing now? injured last I heard.
