Angry FIRE Phillip Fulmer

How long is it going to take UT to realize that Phillip Fulmer needs to go? It's appaling to me that with as much talent as we have that fulmer was still only able to get 9 wins, and lose to an unranked PSU. And honestly can you say that after last year that the fault dosen't lie with the coaching staff? Every Vol fan out there knows that we should have been better than we were. We only beat UK by 5 points! I was at the game and it was the worst I have seen. Our offense has inprover, but our players are as about as undisciplined as I've ever seen them. But the most frustrating part about it to me is that NO ONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Last year Sanders was fired and coach Cutcliffe came back, this was the one postive. After we get our butts handed to us by Florida, LSU, Arkansas, and now PSU. I would have loved to have picked up the paper that morning and see that UT told Fulmer, "Hey you know what: I, the alumni and most importantly the fans are sick and tired of watching the Vol's fold up and die in the big game. So here are your walking papers Phil... Let's take a page out of Bama's book and say enough is enough!!!!!

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

Agreed... Fulmer hasn't achieved anything in 8 years, and it isn't looking good at the moment.

Wasn't Fulmer the coach when the Vols won it all in 1998?

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

Not a chance we're gonna fire Phillip Fulmer anytime soon.

Sorry we're not 13-0 heading into the BCS title game but 2006 was a HUGE improvement over the previous season. 9-3 regular season with losses to :
1) a team playing in the BCS Championship game
2) Sugar Bowl winner
3) team ranked as high as #5 who finished regular season 10-2

The bowl game hinged on 1 critical play that caused a 14 point swing. We only "got our butts handed to us" in 1 game. Not 4.

We had a good year when you look at it on its merits. Not perfect, not great, but good. Compared to 2005, I'd call it a great year.

Don't forget there's a few other decent teams that are trying to win the SEC & to win the BCS.

Fulmer & the Vols made progress this year. There might be a few fans screaming for Tennessee to fire Phillip Fulmer but you'd get alot more screaming if they actually did fire him.

Strange how getting one coach has saved Fat Phil once again because without D. H. the Vols very well be looking for a H. C.

An Alabama fan talking about another team having their butts handed too them is about like myself being a UNC fan talking about our great football program (Yes things are on the up and up, but we have a lot to prove first). 9-3 is good, but I know it's not what it was before Fulmer.

Oh does UNC have a football program I didnt know that. So what it happens to the best of them getting their butts handed to them. In fact believe it or not I was pulling for the Vols to beat Florida and they choked had a good lead and give it a way Please. Keep Phil. Never see so much talent wasted.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

Fulmer is like Majors now. He is past his usefulness. I get
really irritated seeing our guys stand around when you watch programs like Southern Cal and Louisville that are pumped the entire game. Fulmer is always good for 8-3 and 9-2 every year and we did win in 1998, but the lack of fire on the side lines is beyond me. They seem to act like they should get a W for just showing up for the game. We need someone that can put a spark in the team. I don't know if a NFL coach is the answer, but Cowher is leaving the Steelers. I'm ready for a change.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

We have become a second tier SEC team. We will remain that untill we get a new coach. If you look at next years schedule we will have about 5 loses. Cal.,Fla.,Geor.,Al., and Ark. That will leave us with 7 wins. If Ky. or Vandy get lucky we could be down to 6 wins. Fulmer is playing some good teams which I respect but we don't have the coaches to support this. We have the talent but not the coaches. So should we play lesser teams for more wins? I think the schedule is good but the execution is Horrible. As long as Fulmer is there we will be a second tier team. We will get our 7-9 wins a year but never win the SEC.

Not so sure about either of those... Fans on volnation.com are lining him up but I live in Ohio so I can't honestly say I know for sure if that represents the Vol fan base as a whole...

The progress wasn't as good as it seemed. On last year's schedule we would have had a similar record.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

i agee we should fire fulmer, because there has been a few years where we had all the talent in the world but the coaching decisions sucked.and another thing fulmer has a problem beating them folks from gainesville.

I agree that a change is needed and I think it will come after next season when we end up middle of the road at best. What about Cut for coach?
