Here's something though, Blame whoever picks our schedule. For the past 3 years Tenn has played hard games during the opener. That's totally our fault cuz that setup Tenn to lose. Look around at all the other top 25 teams, they are scheduling their UT-Martin and UL-L and Miami-OH to play and totally kill the first game so you are warmed up and ready to really play 2nd week and so on.... so really who is the blame for this one??
If my memory serves me right, Tenn went to the SEC championship game last year..

The Vols are doing just fine..

I think that's the problem right now, we are "okay" with just going to the SEC championship every couple of years. But when you lose, then it throws you into either the Cotton or the Outback and you're not really given any credit.

Stop being OK with an average season. TENNESSEE FOOTBALL used to be about powerhouse Domination. There hasn't been a season like that SINCE the 97-98 NC year. I totally miss attending UT games and being blown away by how powerful both Lines are.

Fans, we have to standup and make sure Mike Hamilton and the rest of the UT staff understands that sending Fulmer to the SEC game every few years ISNT what TENNESSEE football stands for. We are a dynasty or used to be, i think we lost that title back in 05 with a losing season and no bowl game.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

I dont know if we need to exactly Fire him yet. but i dont think the extension was a good idea. UT needs some new minds and new ways of thinking. Until tenn can WIN the SEC then i believe we were just average. I blame this on the fact i grew up with the Powerhouse dynasty Fulmer created in the late 90s. My first Tennessee football game was with Peyton Manning as QB back in 1996.

I believe Fulmer should be better than he has been since 1998. I believe his creative thinking just isnt there anymore and needs to realize it and step down gracefully or start winning.

Lost 2000 Fiesta Bowl to Nebraska 31, Tennessee 21
Lost 2001 Cotton Bowl Kansas State 35, Tennessee 21
Won 2002 Citrus Bowl Tennessee 45, Michigan 17
Lost 2003 Peach Bowl Maryland 30, Tennessee 3
Lost 2004 Peach Bowl Clemson 27, Tennessee 14
Won 2005 Cotton Bowl Tennessee 38, Texas A&M 7
Lost 2006 - Not Bowl Eligible
Lost 2007 Outback Bowl Penn State 20, Tennessee 10
Won 2008 Outback Bowl Tennessee 21, Wisconsin 17

Thanks for some good years but it's time to hang up the clip board Phil.
if it's not fair to look at the first game than why in the hell would it matter about the past bowl games? come on people you guys are rediculous the vols lose the first game going across country to a pretty good team by a missed field goal in overtime and yall want to fire fulmer

why wouldnt you be happy for going to the sec chamionship every couple years? its the SEC!!!!!! the best confrence by far in the nation and tennessee won the sec east last year and won the outback bowl after that last year.i had know idea how fans could just turn on the coach that has been here for so many years and took us to bcs title and so many bowl games and really all fulmer can do is prepare the players for the game he doesnt actually go out there in play not every incomplete pass, interception, fumble, missed field goal, blocked punt is fulmers fault.

He is sorta having an issue like Peyton Manning did at Tenn....He cant win the big games. Until he deals out 2 losing seasons in a row....dont fire him, just put alot of fire under his ass.

and a few posts ago they talked about all the things that went FOR UCLA. Does anybody remember that play where there should've been illegal formation for the TD?? Yeah i do. Tenn made one too many mistakes and UCLA capitalized on them
well how about the illegal men down field that led the bruins to a td(which wasnt a td anyways) ucla got away with crap more han they were cought and tennessee on the other hand was penalized for everything and didnt get any breaks from the reff's like ucla did

i dont understand why they think we should fire one of the winningest coaches in the country for

Because if you had a real coach like Steve Spurrier you would be contending for the National Championship every year. I know people have made fun of the carousel at Alabama but now we have Saban and he is exactly what we have been waiting for. Tennesee sees what a real coach can do and there are no excuses for Fulmer's coaching. He has had the talent and a decent staff he just is a horrible gameplanner. His teams are completely unprepaired. They look like they have never seen a football. Tennesee is used to having a powerhouse in football the fans deserve a better product than what they saw against UCLA.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

We are not sayin' the Vols suck we're sayin' Fatboy Phil sux.Old school Vols fans want to see the Vols compete for the National Championship and be a powerhouse every year.Do y'all forget when we use to reload instead of rebuild? The sad thing is we have the talent as far as the players go,but our headcoach lacks the passion to lead our guys to more than a Bowl game that is'nt for the National Championship. As long as Fatboy Phil is at the helm I hate to say it but hey Vol fans you'll have to settle for mediocrity.

I so hope and pray Phatlock remains for the entire reckoning. You know a collection of a debt owed.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

Look guys, I bleed Orange. I've been a UT fan my entire life. I drive up from Birmingham for every home game and try to make at least two away games every year. I LOVE Tennessee Football. But we have to be realistic when we ask ourselves 'Are we heading in the right direction?'. Are we playing at the same level year-after-year as Florida, Georgia, LSU and Auburn. I'll be the first to say Fulmer did an amazing job but it is time for a change. Since when did "Playing in the SEC championship" mean the same as winning an SEC championship? Can anyone here honestly say they are happy with the performance over the last 9 years?

Here is an interesting fact

Coach Fulmer lost 14 games his during his first 8 years at the healm while losing 31 games his last 8 years.

Is this progress?

this is EXACTLY what i'm saying. Tennessee football is so amazing. I love going to games, i went to UT, and i will bleed orange til the day i die..... but i grew up in the Old School UT days when we DOMINATED. Now, Tenn doesn't hold up to Florida, LSU and so on....Yes its awesome we head to ATL every few decembers....but we deserve more than that. Tenn is one amazing school and should be EXPECTED to go to ATL every december.

Re: Fire Phil Fulmer

Lets just hope that Fulmer gets everything back together so that we can win out the rest of the season.

I just miss Old-School Powerhouse Tennessee Football.
