And honestly can you say that after last year that the fault dosen't lie with the coaching staff? Every Vol fan out there knows that we should have been better than we were. We only beat UK by 5 points! I was at the game and it was the worst I have seen. Our offense has inprover, but our players are as about as undisciplined as I've ever seen them. But the most frustrating part about it to me is that NO ONE DOES ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Last year Sanders was fired and coach Cutcliffe came back, this was the one postive. After we get our butts handed to us by Florida, LSU, Arkansas, and now PSU. I would have loved to have picked up the paper that morning and see that UT told Fulmer, "Hey you know what: I, the alumni and most importantly the fans are sick and tired of watching the Vol's fold up and die in the big game. So here are your walking papers Phil... Let's take a page out of Bama's book and say enough is enough!!!!!
Here till now I didn't think there was a voulnteer with balls, I want us to beat the best not the fattest so here is a second FIRE FULMER. You don't have to even look outside your organization. David Cutcliffe should be your Head Coach.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

Why should we have Fulmer Jr. be head coach.. If we want to win anything we will need fresh blood... Or might as well keep Fulmer.

Then you as fans need to revolt like we did. Then you need to be willing to pony up like we did. John Gruden would be a good choice or if you think you have the big $$$$$ go get Jimmy Johnson off FOX SPORTS.

I wouldn't mind having Gruden, but I can't see us paying anyone that much.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

I would never support Cutt as head coach. He is a GREAT QUARTERBACK coach but not a head coach. As far as 40 MILLION we will let Bama ( Who is still trying to buy a team) spend that much money.

Idiots like this aren't Tennessee fans. I hope his unregistered status means he's been banned.

Agreed, not a fan. And I deleted their post.

In general, we let registered users have a little more leeway in how much they can slam coaches/players/teams... as opposed to what we allow unregistered posters say. But we remove any posts that are nothing but cussing and so far over the line. From the Forum Rules : "Posts that offer nothing but mindless flames will be deleted." and "We're a PG rated forum. Leave the profanity and explicit comments somewhere else."

To be honest spending that kind of dough caught me by suprise too. But Tennesee is supposed to have such great boosters maybe you can afford Parcells.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

I don't think Parcells much wants to coach any more.

As for the money, I just don't think we will spend that kind of money, even if we can.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

I certainly hope we never spend 40 mil. on any coach. Phil has been a good coach for the most part, but I think another bad year, or even a good year with another bowl game let down could possibly cause him some trouble with his job. I am looking for more improvement on last year, and hope for an SEC title game appearance. Florida is back on top again which kills me, and a couple other teams are still going to cause us problems if we dont improve from last year. I think maybe the play calling gets to cautious from time to time. Maybe we will let it hang out a little more this year and be more aggressive on offense. We were much better last year and I look for more improvement this year like the rest of the Vols Fans.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

I think Phil has to win the SEC championship in 2 years or the vast majority of the fan base will call for his head, and Hamilton may drop the axe.

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

In defense of Fulmer, who I think takes WAY too much heat, I present this...

Quote:
Full speed ahead
By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports
February 6, 2007

Fifteen months ago Phil Fulmer trudged out of Neyland Stadium, his Tennessee program reeling, his team humiliated.

Vanderbilt – the Volunteers' longtime in-state patsy – was dancing around Knoxville after a 28-24 victory that sent UT stumbling to a 5-6 record, the worst in Fulmer's then-14 seasons.

Fans were giving it to Fulmer from the mountains to Memphis, the memories of the 1998 national championship fading like the foliage in the Smokies. Suddenly a program that for more than a decade seemed unstoppable was in trouble, and Fulmer himself was sitting on a hot seat. And a 2006 recruiting class that finished in the second half of the SEC didn't help ease fears.

"The wheels came off," Fulmer admitted.

He said that from his office where Wednesday morning the fax machine should start humming early with national letters of intent from perhaps 30 top prospects, including five five-star recruits according to rivals.com.

That's good enough for the Vols to wind up with the No. 2-ranked recruiting class nationally, according to most analysts. Only white-hot Florida, riding the wave of its national championship, is consistently considered better.

When you couple that with UT's nine-win, bounce-back season, it's pretty clear the Vols are a long way from that sorry afternoon against Vanderbilt.

"We put the wheels back on in a big way," Fulmer said. "I think everybody is recognizing that. We had an exciting year. We're fighting right back where we were."

Re: FIRE Phillip Fulmer

9-4 should have been the bad year, not the success after the bad year.
