| Re: Parker's jams thrills Lady Vols fans Candace Parker dunked for the third time in her career Sunday, and finally Lady Vols fans got to see it in Knoxville.
The Naperville native got her slam as part of 15 points in Tennessee's 102-72 season-opening win over Chattanooga. Parker, who made history in last year's NCAA tournament by dunking twice against Army, is the fourth college woman to dunk (Michelle Snow did it three times for Tennessee from 2000-02, but all on the road; North Carolina's Charlotte Smith did it in 1994, and West Virginia's Georgeann Wells did it twice in 1984). "It was probably a good thing to get that over with," coach Pat Summitt said. "I know she wanted to dunk at home for the fans. I'm sure that's the reason she took advantage of the opportunity." Man, Summitt, lighten up...This is a good thing for the game...not a "great, we got it over with, lets play ball" deal...You need some charisma there babe. |
