TN & Alabama football history goes back to their first game in 1901. 2006 marks the 89th time these football powerhouses have met.

The Tide holds the all time record for this series: 44-37-7

In recent years, it's been all Vols. UT has won 9 of the last 11 games. Last year Mike Shula got his 1st win over theVols in a 6-3 defensive struggle. Shula is 1-2 against Fulmer and the Volunteers.

Fulmer started his head coach record against the Crimson Tide in 1993. Since then, he's got a 10-3 record against Bama. Back when Fulmer started, Alabama was probably the biggest thorn in the side of the Vols. If you could have told Vol fans back in 1993 that we'd go 10-3 against the Tide, I think would have all gladly taken the deal regardless of the other games.

This is certainly a historic rivalry but until Bama makes it back to the ranks of the perennial top 20, UT should continue its dominance.
