Tennessee travels to Memphis for the Sept 30 UT Vols vs Memphis Tigers game.

The Vols are 3-1 heading into this game with a strong win over Marshall at TN's homecoming game. Memphis is 1-2 with losses to Ole Miss and East Carolina. Their only win is over I-AA Mocs from UT Chattanooga.

Memphis will be the 1st away game for the Vols this year. It's also our last non conference game.

I hate that we've lost Justin Harrell but the defense shouldn't have a problem with Memphis. I'm hoping that someone else on the d line will really have a break out game and be the new leader on the field up front.

Kickoff of the Vols Memphis game is at 11am central at the Liberty Bowl. It'll be on ESPN.

Defensive end Jared Hostetter, a junior from Louisa, KY, has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's game. He missed all of last year with injuries.

Never underestimate the Tigers. This would make their next 10 years if they could win. I live in Memphis and am so sick of all the news playing up their ONLY win 10 yaers ago. They never remember the other 19 times we beat them. God help us if we loose this game. My boss has already reminded me he was there when they beat Tennessee. He doesn't mention the questionable call on the kickoff return. Even though it should not have come to that. We still should have won the game. All I can say is go VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess they want some of the Vandy magic, eh?

Every downtrodden school's cry against the Vols will be "Remember the Dores!"

I say, maybe once every 30 years we'll let them win but not every 10.

The UT Memphis games are a lot like the UT Vandy games. We're supposed to blow them out every time but that only happens occasionally. Seems like more often than not, we struggle and somehow pull out the win.

Last year, we were down. If the Tigers had a healthy DeAngelo Williams, I'm not sure whether we would have still won the game.

Just for the record, the Vols last loss to Memphis was 1996 at the Liberty Bowl. Peyton manning (remember him?) was the Quarterback & we were favored by 26 points. We were ranked 6th in the nation going into that game.

Vols stopped Memphis on their 1st possession. Then we drove down the field with about a 2-1 mix of mostly runs. Picking up 5 & 7 yards on most carries.

We had to settle for a field goal but things are looking good for Tennessee right now. Looks like we'll be able to run a lot today.

Halftime for UT vs Memphis. Vols lead 13-0.

We dodged a bullet when Ainge threw a interception that went for a Memphis touchdown. Tigers were called offsides so the points came off the board.

We've been able to do pretty much anything we wanted in the 1st half. Offense looks good, running & passing well. Defense has stopped Memphis pretty much every drive with a 3 & out.

If we can avoid any more turnovers, Vols may throw a shutout & get to play the younger guys for much of the 4th quarter.

Man, what a GREAT game. Tennessee really put it on those Tigers. I was really glad to see the 4th string get some time in. If we would have kept the 1st string in Memphis would not have even gotten 100 yards total offence.

Jared Bridges says this was a boring game. I can see where he's coming from but there were enough exciting plays to keep me awake

Well, the saying goes that a “W” is a “W,” any way you can take it. With this game it seemed like a “W” was a “Z.” As in sleep. As in “Zzzzz Zzzzz Zzzzz.” In case you’re confused by all those end-of-the-alphabet letters, this was one of the most boring games in recent Tennessee history...

Well I can tell you it is really quite in Memphis today. I have heard nothing about the game. It was not even in the paper today. The Ole Miss, Georgia game was though. They are just such bad loosers. I almost wish we would have run the score up on them.
