Jeff Fisher and Rebuilding

Jeff Fisher has been one of the more consistantly good head coaches in the NFL in recent memory. Even though I'm not a Titans fan, I'm still a bit bitter over the '99 Super Bowl. But nevertheless, thinking pots have begun whether or not Fisher can stomach a major rebuilding process the Titans appear to be in the midst of.

Would ownership ever fire Fisher or would he have to make a decision on his own to part ways? I'm just throwing this out there because a coach of his stature usually doesn't appreciate the losing stretch before a good playoff run.

For those Titan fans, would you be in favor of a change at head coach next year? Or are you waiting to see how the team performs this year?

Re: Jeff Fisher and Rebuilding

Jeff got a vote of confidence from owner Bud Adams just last week. I don't think he's going anywhere any time soon.

I'm sure there's some Titans fans who want to see a coaching chage but I'm not one of them... yet.

Re: Jeff Fisher and Rebuilding

You mean the DREADED vote of confidence? Uh-oh. Might as well play taps before every practice, because Fisher's a goner. Nah, in all seriousness, Fisher's a good coach in a bad situation. He just doesn't have the personnel right now to do all that much, and it'd be a shame if they didn't give him at least 2-3 more seasons to try and put all the pieces together.

Re: Jeff Fisher and Rebuilding

i think the problem Coach Fisher is having is the same most great coaches in the NFL have at one time or another and thats that you cannot continue to have a great team throughout your career, be it due to injury, salary cap problems etc...we didnt have so much of a problem during that '99 Super Bowl season because we had a good roster, but having to drop so many players after it meant that you have to start rebuilding a team.

i guess the simplest thing to say is you look at all the great coachs Belichek, Madden, Vramile, Lambeau, Parcells, they did not win the Super Bowl every year because they didnt have the personel to do that every year. football is a tough game for coaches, you could have a season of All Pro players, but then by next season you could loose them all due to contracts, salary cap, retirement, injury...and be forced to rebuild you entire team from rookies or new guys.

i think coach fisher is doing a good job and i am stilll a huge fan of his, he is definatly a Titans Icon

Re: Jeff Fisher and Rebuilding

I agree with most writers. He is a good ball coach. I have some concerns with the 2 of the 3 top picks the last 2 years. I mean, there is alot of immaturity, with an exception to young. Remember in 99,00, when we had some great players developed out of the late round picks. Now we have priceless picks, and I think we are not doing them justice. I mean pacman makes me want to vomit on and off the field. The guy needs cover somebody. he is great athleticly, I think the coverages to more complicated in the NFL. I almost think they would be better off just pointing at the guy for him to cover and thats it.

Welcome to GoTeamsGo alellew. I agree. The guy's a good coach. If he was let go, he'd have about 10 job offers waiting.

Welcome abellew. Personally I am more concern over what seems like a lack of plan on they are going about developing Young etc?...What happened with Volek all of a sudden?...Bringing in Collins is going to be a bigger headheach short term...what are they thinking?

Great question Gotham. It doesn't seem like they know what their plan is - how would we?
