Steve McNair Killed

Steve McNair, who was a quarterback for the Titans, Raves and. Was shot twice in the head and twice in the chest. A woman he was with, Sahel Kazemi was shot once in the head, and also killed.

McNair was drafted in 1995 by the Houston Oilers, he spent two seasons with the Ravens at the end of his career however he spent most of his NFL time with the Titans. He was the Titans QB for 9 seasons, including when he lead Tennessee to their only Super Bowl in 1999.

Career Stats-
TD- 174
Yards- 31,304
INT- 119
COMP %- 60.1

He appeared in the play-offs 5 times. (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2006). There is plenty of discussion going around about the woman that was found dead next to him. Supposedly he is married but was dating this 20 year-old woman. More information will be found im sure.

Going back to his stats though, a 60% completion percentage looks pretty good. Over 30 thousand yards, 174 touchdowns. Any chance of being placed into the Hall of Fame? I personally think adding 2 superbowl wins to that record puts him in Hall of Fame contention.

Any thoughts about any of this?

Re: Steve McNair Killed

I have thoughts, lots of them, but not about his induction into HOF. My thoughts are about Steve McNair, the man on the field.
Air McNair they called him. And for good reason. Every week this guy put up tremendous numbers on the field.
Heart- when you think of heart in the NFL, McNair has to be the first name that comes to mind. He liked to hold on to the ball looking to make a play, and paid for it. hHe took a lot of nasty hits. I can see him getting up and his face contorted in pain. He played though. He played through a lot of pain. Today's quarterbacks arent cut from the same mold. I'd take Steve McNair over Romo, Brady, Manning(s) and all the other pretty boys.
Leadership--it was his team and no one else's. No flashy receiver or dominant defender would take charge, no sirree, not while Steve McNair had a breath in his body.

Second are my thoughts of the man off the field. Guess he left the Superman persona in the locker room.
I am sorry, just terribly sorry about this tragic loss.

Well I think he would have gotten up after being shot in the temple and chest if he could have.

i agree with that 100%

on the question of his death .... this may get people upset with me .. but i cant help but thinking he would still be alive had he not been cheating on his wife

I didnt mean his physical strength as regarding his Superman persona. See post below from simon.

This is what I meant by not being Superman off the field. They talked about him being a family man. That kind of sticks in the throat. Men who have strong beliefs in family dont cheat on their wives.
He was 36. She was 20. Yeah, he'd still be alive.

Ya think???...Sometimes its what we do in private when no one else is looking that really defines are character...all that good work he did, and he tarnishes his reputation somewhat with the messing ending...

All aside, I's take Manning, Brady and Romo over McNair though...but that is just personal taste...and nothing against McNair

Well, let me put it this way. You're a Cowboy fan. Let's take McNair, a younger McNair in his prime, with his arm and his heart and his talent, and lets put him on that talented Cowboys' team last year, do you really think we would have missed the playoffs?

Sure it would have, the man had a hard time staying healthy...If Namath's knees would have held up he could have....see...insert any injured QB's name in there, and go "What if"...McNair for all his heart and talent was injured prone...I like the fact that at 230 lbs he could get you a lot of yards on the ground...but I would have perfered a QB who stayed healthy.

Re: Steve McNair Killed

Yeah, thats just a sad way to go. He was such a fighter on the field. Who knows what drove him to do the things he did behind the scenes. Hope his fam can hold up after this blow.
