I'm trying to remember, I think we had a couple no-names competing for 3rd string. My guess is that the reason the Titans would sign Kerry Collins is that the other guys didn't have what it takes. So you gotta have 3 QB's that can run the offense apparently.

This is weird. You gotta think Kerry Collins would only sign somewhere where he knows he'll play. Do the Titans want to sit Vince Young for a year? I doubt Collins would sign just to be a back-up. And with a lackluster o-line, who thinks he'd do well?

i dont think the Titans want Young to sit for a year becuase in interviews prior to the pre season games and even during the pre season games Coach Fisher has hinted that he wants Vince to gain more experience on the field by playing him in more games and i would have thought he would have began starting him by midseason. but this signing of Collins is unusual there is talk of him taking over from Billy Volek which would mean pushing Vince back into the third string, will he sit as an experienced QB only brought in to share his expreience and talents with Young during practices or has he come to push Vince to work harder for a starting place? it just doesnt seem to add up

That makes it sound like Collins was a highly sought after quarterback, which I'm guessing wasn't the case. Personally, I think the guy's a better QB than a lot of guys in the NFL, including anyone on his former team in Oakland, but I wouldn't even think of starting him over Billy Volek. I think Alex and Empire have it right - this means a third-string demotion for Vince, as they give him essentially a full year to learn the offense and try again in 2007.

am i the only one who believes this image of Kerry Collins with a dumb founded look on his face doesnt instill a lot of confidence that our new signing is going to bring a lot of intelligence to the team the term duh comes to mind for some reason

Kerry Collins has experience, and that is about it.

I remember his days with the Giants. I knew it was smart to avoid buying his jersey.
