Titans Hope To Keep Haynesworth

General manager Mike Reinfeldt said the Titans have the cash to re-sign Albert Haynesworth, who wants to become the NFL's highest paid defensive player. Now they just have to decide whether to take a massive chunk out of their salary cap space the Titans are about $33 million under. -- Tennessean

Re: Titans Hope To Keep Haynesworth

Last night I was reading an article that said the Titans should let Haynesworth go and say good riddance. Let him be someone else's problem.
Now before the Titans' fans get ready to tar and feather me, consider this.
First of all in this free agency era, frequently players play well during their contract years and then lose their fire after getting paid so well.
Secondly, three years ago Haynesworth would have been considered a bust. In fact it wasnt until after he tried to shred Cowboy Andre Gurode's head into hamburger with his cleats that his name was on people's lips. In 5 seasons he had 9.5 sacks, about 1.9 per season. Then in '07, the final year of his rookie contract, after some years of mediocritcy he woke up. In 13 games he had 6.5 sacks. In 2008, he was franchised. In 14 games he had 8.5 sacks.
So the question is after he gets his financial security, will he revert back to the head stomping guy and lose his fire?????

Titans will keep him in the end, but I think the Titans have a small window of opportunity to get him. I would make sure to sign him within the next week or so before he begins to look at other offers around the league.

Re: Titans Hope To Keep Haynesworth

Of course they hope to keep him, if I was a GM and I had a guy like Hanyesworth in free agency I wouldn't want to lose him. I think he will stay though, if he wants to win a title, if he's just in it for the money he'll go waste away in St. Louis or some where like that though. But of course they want him back
