The only question is, will these guys develop quickly enough to fill the holes, which are sizeable? Replacing two very good starters on the defensive line with second- and third-round picks is a gamble, regardless of how talented LaBoy, Odom, and Starks are. And on offense, can Ben Troupe replace the venerable Frank Wycheck as a clutch receiver?
Perhaps instead of adding depth for the future across the board, which the Titans certainly did, they should have drafted for the present, added a couple of good defensive lineman, trade for a veteran tight end, and make a run for the title. This team has been so close for so long. Maybe it's time to take advantage of the present talent at skill positions before they move on. |
