I have to say I was impressed with how Steve McNair handled his DUI arrest in Nashville awhile back. He made a mistake, admitted he had done wrong and seemed as if he was going to do the right thing.

On the news tonight, they showed clips from his initial court hearing. His lawyer was arguing a loophole about belching. Apparently, "Hiccups, burping, or belching prior to taking the test can cause false "high" readings." Police are supposed to observe the perp for 20 minutes prior to giving the breath test.

Come on!!!!

If Steve's defense is that the cop didn't watch him every single second for 20 minutes becasue he might have burped, and that burp might have inflated the BAT readings, that's just ridiculous. Another rich athlete trying to get off by buying a high priced lawyer to yank the loops of justice.

If you're guilty, face the music!! Don't try to dodge thru some belching loophole!

Steve McNair had a chance to be a role model by doing the right thing on this DUI charge. Now it looks like he's just another celebrity with some hired gun attorney trying to beat the drunk driving law.

I agree with whoever posted that. There are to many athletes today who think they can just get away with anything because they are big superstars. I think that kobe may be the first on to actually face some real charges. Although i don't know if he will or not because from what i've seen half say he did it and half say he didn't. Either way superstars today get away with too much.
