Steve 'Air' McNair Retires

As most of you may have heard, former Titans great Steve McNair has announced his retirement from professional football today, ending a great 13 year career.

Steve spent the bulk of his illustrious career with the Titans/Oilers franchise and made history by becoming the first black QB to be drafted with one of the top 3 picks of the NFL draft and then made history again by becoming the first black QB to lead his team to a Super Bowl.

After a series of problems with his sternum and a rather unfortunate incident that occurred when the Titans drafted McNairs portage, Vince Young...McNair left for Baltimore where he could never really recapture the kind of talent he had when he was playing for the Titans/Oilers.

i was fortunate enough to see Steve at his peak and he was one hell of a player, one hell of a warrior and one HELL of a Titan

McNair left Mt. Olive, but Mt. Olive never left McNair

Air Mcnair was a great QB, He was an exciting player that seemed to win games by his toughness.

Fast foward to 1:40 and you will see how great and tough he was..

YouTube - Rams SuperBowl 34 (Final minutes)

I still hate we lost that superbowl by 1 yard..

Re: Steve 'Air' McNair Retires

but in all seriousness Steve was a great QB and a great leader, i mean i remember his last few seasons with us when he had a bruised sternum and i think started 13 games that season or something and had to leave most of them early when the pain got to much...but he still played and threw and ran like he was a perfectly healthy guy just coming outta college and what a mentor for Vince i mean could you ask for anyone better? maybe he will come back as the Titans QB coach

Head Coach: Jeff Fisher
QB coach/offensive coordinator: Steve McNair

QB: Vince Young
