Marion Barber Going going hopefuly gone?

Word floating around those close to the Owner and General Manager of the Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones and Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys Wade Phillips is that Marion will be gone by the draft. A lot of people in Valey Ranch are talking about the Pro Bowl running back and the conversations are not good.
According to Wade Phillips it was Jerry Jones and Jason Garret that wanted Marion to start in the playoff game against the Giants to see if he was a workhorse or just a Very Good change of pace back. Phillips says if he had it his way Marion would have stayed the number two back where he excels. So if the head coach is telling the truth and the playoff game was a test then Marion has failed.
Sources close to Jerry and his son have said that the fans would be in an uproar if they traded Barber so they had to seek another way to get rid of him at a hefty price.
Dallas is going to tender Barber before Thursday night but interestingly enough it will not be the highest tender but rather the 1st round tender. This means if Barber signs with another team the Dallas Cowboys will receive a first round pick in return. It is said that Jerry's son and not Jerry himself who wants Darren McFadden the most.
Will Dallas let Barber go? Will he use three first round picks to pick McFadden up?
Sources in Atlanta tell us that Aurthur Blank has been speaking a lot to Jerry as of late trying to construct a deal that would give Dallas a draft pick and Deangelo Hall. It is unknown at this time what pick Dallas would receive but it is easy to put one and one together since Atlanta holds the number three overall pick. Atlanta is expected to receive three first round picks and a player. The player is speculated to be LB Akin Ayodele.

Marion Barber a Titan in 08?

Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher hints at a possible future running back. During an interview with a local TV station Coach Fisher spoke on many topics one being the running back. He spoke about possible backs they would draft but went on to say that if he had a chance to sign Marion Barber of the Dallas Cowboys he would. He said that Marion is a restricted free agent this year and since Dallas has yet to come to an agreement with him yet he believes that Dallas will put a 1st and 3rd round tender on him. Jeff went on to say that in his eyes it would be well worth the 1st and 3rd round picks. He says when drafting you have a fifty fifty shot your player will make the team and the odds that player will make a pro bowl team is even more unlikely, So if you have a chance to pick up a pro bowl back for a first and third then you take it. "I hope they do give him the tender. If they do the good news is they will have two more picks this year." Coach Fisher said as he laughed.
I do believe Jerry wants someone to take Barber. I think he wants McFadden badly but knows fans will be very upset if he were to trade Barber. So what do you do? Well i'll tell ya what I would do. I give Barber a tender praying that someone picks him up. If the team that takes him doesn't have a high enough pick to grab McFadden I would trade two of the three picks and a few "Parcells Guys" to Miami. Maybe a player like Anthony Fasano someone that Bill was very high on in his cowboys days and you trade with Miami. I am sure there is already a deal in place thus the reason Bill was able to raid the Cowboys coaching and recruiting staff without a blink from Jerry. So now you have McFadden and a later round pick. Then you take that other first and a player like Patrick Crayton to buy yourself a player like Roy Williams of Detroit or Larry Fitzgerald of Arizona. Then you hit the free agent market and get yourself a good #3 wide out like Bernard Berrian who is a free agent. You could then trade a 2nd day pick to the very team that "Stole" your running back to pick up a certain troubled yet very talented corner back Adam "Pacman" Jones. Then Dallas is happy and we are happy. They will have all their holes filled and we will finally be rid of Pacman and we will also have a franchise running back.

Lets get him now!

I have posted several articles about us getting Dallas' running back Marion Barber. I think this would be a great pick up. He runs real hard he can catch and is a great blocker! He is not the fastest back in the world but I think he would be great with young.
We need a running game to take some pressure off Vince and unless the Vikings cut Peterson or the Chargers cut Tomlinson in the next few days I think we should grab him.
Fisher has said that he wouldn't mind giving up a 1st round pick for a proven player because the draft is a crap shoot anyway so here is our chance to grab a Pro Bowl running back for a 1st round pick. What do you guys think?

Re: Marion Barber a Titan in 08?

welcome to the site TnT1241. this is the first i've heard about us going for Marion Barber, but i'm not too surprised we are going after Micheal Turner either.

i think if we get rid of Chris Brown, Barber would be good for his veteran presence and Turner...well he is just a new class of running back that i still cant understand why he wants to be a back up to the current NFL's best.

but i think when it comes down to it we have to make a choice about one, because we cannot have White, Barber and Turner all on one roster together...i guess only time will tell, i just hope Reindfelt loosens the purse strings this time around

Personally, I think it would be a really bad idea. I think the Barbarian should stay right where he is. I would be one of those outraged fans if this happened.
But no doubt this would really be a help for Young.

Re: Marion Barber a Titan in 08?

i still think we need a speed back and a decent back up because Chris Brown has had his day...i been watching a few guys going into the draft and i think we could pick up a pretty decent return guy/wide receiver or return guy/running back in the mid to late draft

Re: Marion Barber a Titan in 08?

Chris Henry has all the speed(and power) the titans need for a 2nd rb, even though he is young and somewhat inexpierenced. I think it would be a wasteful move to bring in a rb from free agency or from a trade when the titans have bigger needs they need to address.

Re: Marion Barber a Titan in 08?

As long as Turner doesnt cost an arm and a leg, i would be happy. Competition between the 3 headed beast of white, henry and turner would be really interesting in training camp to see who came out where in the depth chart. But like i said, the titans dont need to go after him too hard, we have bigger needs at wr, ol, dl we need to worry about.
