The Chargers believed Tennessee played dirty in last week's game, and the league apparently agreed. The NFL today fined three Titans players a total of $25,000 for various infractions, including the play on which LB Shawne Merriman injured his knee.
Titans T David Stewart was docked $12,500 for striking a player (presumably DE Jacques Cesaire) after one play and shoving Merriman after another play. Center Kevin Mawae was fined $5,000 for shoving Merriman on the same play. And, guard Eugene Amano was fined $7,500 for an illegal clip, with the league saying he struck a player from behind and below the waist.
For the Chargers, LB Shaun Phillips was fined $7,500 for a horsecollar tackle on RB Chris Brown.

they are making it impossible to make any tackles now without getting major fines, it was a rough game last week no doubt, i mean there were times when more helmets were on the field then points on the scoreboard so are they going to fine Riddell for that now as well??

I agree this is so much BS, both teams were physical, its a physical game, they found no illegal so why the hell was there fines? cause merriman is a baby and wines too much..The No Fun League is becoming a Soft league as well..

its so stupid, i mean its like when they fined Big Al for that tackle he did on Maurice Jones-Drew becuase it was to hard apparently, i mean they might as well be playing on a sponge surface and be slapping each other with pillows instead of physical tackles. its like "oh give him a flag becuase he LOOKED at me mean"

thats the whole point is to tackle hard, thats what coaches stress, hit em hard, thats football, thats why not everyone can play..its freakin ridiculous..

the titans have had many players get fined for many stupid things and i see way worse thing they could be worring about than just the titans making legal hits to hard.

the thing that gets me is that Roy Williams has just been fined a weeks wages and suspended for ONE game for violating his own rule! and yet our players are getting almost the same thing (minus the one game ban) for tackles that are far less harsh than his was, i mean he could have broken McNabbs legs

it makes me think the NFL just wants to raise some more money for their christmas party and becuase of that want to start handing out all these fines

did sapp ever get a fine from the raiders when he delivered a late hit to our QB?and did any body see the pass interferince the colts gave the raiders on a 4th down that was either a chance for a game winning field goal or game losing effort and the colts who should have bean called for pass interferince got a way with it.i think reff's only call things they want to call at times and the nfl gives fines when there bored.
