| Who Picked Titans Vince Young? Titans flew Vince Young to Nashville on Bud Adam's jet so he's been making the rounds on Nashville TV stations. Then back to Houston to have a press conference with Bud. Sounds like at least part of the decision to take VY was that Adams was a strong supporter. Even though Fisher & Chow had USC ties, they take the high risk/high reward guy from Texas. Anybody think this is simply a case of the owner making the pick?

| Re: Who Picked Titans Vince Young? video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9048728383246059683 This is a video of Vince and the Longhorns, it's amazing but like everything else about his game, he's way more impressive in person. The way he moves and just destroys guys in the open field is the most graceful thing you'll ever see. And his speed has an optical illusion quality to it. He eats up a ton of ground with each stride, so he's actually moving much faster than he looks. He'll scamper out of bounds and it'll look like he had to settle for a couple of yards but it turns out he actually got 9 yards. He's not insane fast, but he accelerates out of his cuts and he moves like a genius. When he's in motion, he's harder to hit than Reggie Bush. He'll make big plays seem routine. He electrified everybody in the two Rose Bowls, but we've seen him make a hundred plays just like any of those--when he HAS to do it all himself, he will. Anyway, once you lay your eyes on him and see it for yourself, all those concerns won't concern you as much. He's the real deal. |

| Re: Who Picked Titans Vince Young? Welcome to GoTeamsGo, Thelonious Monkey (love that name) and thanks for joining us here in the Titans forum. I agree that Young is an incredible athlete. It's his ability to handle the mental aspect of the pro game that has me doubting him. Can he make the right reads? Is he coachable? |

Mostly, they wanted a whiter QB, I think. But he works so hard better himself, and he brought that same work ethic to his off the field development. He spent so much of his free time studying video and doing drills. There's a famous story about how after the first Rose Bowl, he put an end to the self-congratulatory celebration in the locker room and got everybody focused on the Ohio State game. He led the team in the voluntary summer workouts and by all accounts, brought the team together over the summer. He worked closely with our offensive coordinator and continued to expand his playbook throughout his career, even up to the end of this season. He won't be able to use the whole playbook at first, but he'll find what works and continue to grow. He was a phenom from the beginning, but personally I'm most enamored with him because he never stopped getting better. There will be some rough spots, but the flashes of greatness should carry you through it. He's so tough. There's not an ounce of quit in him and he'll just get better and better. Never bet against Vince Young. The concerns are understandable, he's different and scary but in the end you'll love him. He's no Cunningham or Vick. He's a whole different thing. It took him two years to completely change this team into a group of tough-minded players who refuse to quit. I've never seen anything like it. He was the greatest single influence on a team that I've ever seen. I just hope he doesn't get thrown into the fire too quickly and get hurt. But he does learn and his intangibles are immeasurable. The more the coaches trust in him, the better the team will be. This is one of those rare guys with the potential to change the whole game. And the NFL is overdue for that. |

| Hey man, I am going to go out and get his rookie cards and if he don't pan out like you say, I am going to post that you were wrong... |

| Re: Who Picked Titans Vince Young? Who knows who really made the call on Young. I DO know that Vince Young fits a Fisher 'run 25 times a game' style. He needs a QB who can pass in the pocket AND on the run. Young has the ability to use his feet to 'create' when a play busts. I wanted Young all along. Too much up-side to turn him down. |

| Welcome to GoTeamsGo Hammerhead. Nice to have you aboard. Here's how it went down in Tennessee: Fisher and Chow wanted Leinhart. Bud Adams and the GM wanted Young. And in a tie - the owner always wins. |

Few people around here (Austin) were surprised by either of Vince's Rose Bowl performances--we all saw that stuff every week. And if you don't know yet, Vince Young will win. He's a rare transcendent athlete and the thought of drafting ANY player in front of him is almost unfathomable. Who wouldn't draft Babe Ruth? So I'm not sure who drafted him, but somebody better take credit quick, before I start claiming it was me. |

| Welcome to GoTeamsGo Meanhorn. Personally, I don't like the way Young throws the ball from the pocket. He definitely has the leadership ability and can run. If he improves his passing, he'll be great. If not, he might be a bust. |
