Could Jeff Fisher make the HOF someday?

Fisher has already put together one of the longest single-franchise tenures of any coach in NFL history – 200 games in the regular season with one team.To put that in perspective, eight of the nine coaches with longer one-franchise tenures are in the Hall of Fame already: Bud Grant, George Halas, Curly Lambeau, Tom Landry, Chuck Noll, Steve Owen, Don Shula and Hank Stram. The only exception? Bill Cowher, who will likely join the club when it’s all said and done.Good company indeed.Of course, Fisher has a ways to go if he wants to take the "Darn Good" train to "Legendtown."

He’s only 106-94 lifetime, and has just one Super Bowl appearance (the famous loss to the Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV, in which his team fell inches short of a game-tying score as time expired.)But believe it or not, he’s also just 49 years old, and still comes off more like a young coach than a staid old-timer like Mike Shanahan, Mike Holmgren or Bill Belichick.f he makes it to age 59, he’s got a legitimate shot at 200 wins.
Part of the equation is the maturation of Vince Young. If Fisher can stick around in Tennessee for the duration of Young’s career (the QB is already a proven winner) you’d have to think a Super Bowl might be in the mix somewhere.
  • Bonus Cold, Hard Football Fact: Fisher played cornerback next to Ronnie Lott all four years at USC from 1977-1980.
  • Bonus Cold, Hard Football Fact 2: In 1984, his NFL career ended on special teams, thanks to a hit delivered by Bill Cowher.

Re: Could Jeff Fisher make the HOF someday?

you know as much as i love Coach Fisher and if it were biologically possible i would have his babies ...i think he would find it hard to get into the HoF without some more championship or divisional titles or a Super Bowl win...you know i think he is one of the best coaches of his generation and with the longest current tenure of any coach in the league he should be a definate for the HoF but the problem is people dont look at how good the coaches are, they look at the stats...BOY do they love their stats. i mean a good example is someone like Steve 'Air' McNair, at his prime he was a great QB, led the titans offense like a general and played game after game with every injury imaginable, even playing his last 2 season with the titans with a bruised sternum which could have resulted in him being badly hurt if he got hit in it...but he doesnt have the rings or the 'credentails' to back up his performances and could have to wait a while before he gets inducted

in my opinion Coach Fisher is HoF worthy, but its not up to me unfortunatly, i just hope the voters look past the stats and see how great a coach he is

No, sorry, a coach that close to .500 just doesn't belong in the Hall of Fame. Goth's right on this one.
