the titans made their final cuts in order to reduce the teams player count to the leagues mandatory 53 player roster..surpsingly the team cut Free Saftey Lamont Thompson, Wide Reciever Courtney Roby and QB Tim Rattay.

now it isnt really that suprising that Rattay was cut becase i dont think anyone was to happy when he was brought into the team, however this only leaves the team with 1 and a half Quaterbacks on the roster (Vince Young and Kerry Collins ), so would you want the team to go into ANOTHER season with only 2 QB's?

secondly Courtney Roby was an unusual cut becuase he was a player who never really made the grade in the team, but did well when he was brought in and right now i think we need all the recievers we can get.

the most suprising of all 20 cuts was that of Lamont Thompson, the starter for the last 2 years he was either loved or hated...he was the only defensive back to be over 6ft and althought some would say he wasnt the best of defensive backs he came up big when he was asked and i think he will find a home somewhere else, maybe not as a starter but definatly as a reliable backup.

also, somewhat suprisingly, the titans put 5th year defensive tackle Rein Long on the IR, even though Long has spent most of his career on the IR the titans have kept the faith and continue to keep him on the team. this may answer the question to why the team has only signed Corey Simon to a one year deal, maybe to give Long a full year to recover and develop...
