Well, I guess it isn't a surprise, considering the current situation between the Titans and Steve McNair. However, Dan Pompei of The Sporting News is reporting that its looking more and more likely that Billy Volek will be named the starting QB entering the season.

Writes Pompei, "The team is more comfortable with Volek as a backup than as the starter and wonders whether he can remain healthy and consistent over a whole season. But the Titans also know he can make plays. The coaches are familiar with his strengths and weaknesses and have a feel for how to use him." He also adds that they may be looking to pick Matt Leinart at #3 and have him immediately back-up Volek.

If this happens, can Volek hold the job or is he just a stopgap until Leinart's good to go?

Theres alot of teams in the NFL that would love to have Volek! In my opinion we have a ten time better chance with him than we do Mcnair. Im hoping that all goes good and Volek does start. Hes more motivated than Steve and Gees, look at how bad it will be for our team if the Titans do end up keeping Steve.(24.46 m). We will never rebuild our team with that number. So I keep hoping that Volek will start!!! I do think that he can drive the bus.
