| Pacman Jones drops appeal SI.com - NFL - Pacman Jones drops appeal - Tuesday June 12, 2007 12:46PM Pacman Jones has decided to drop his appeal and take the suspension that was handed down. This is a positive step he is taking from the article. Could he be maturing before our eyes. |

| Re: Pacman Jones drops appeal i think the reason behind it is that its to soon for the league to turn around, put up their arms and say "we were wrong lets shorten the sentence" in particular Godell. what Pac has done here has said im going to cut my losses, sit out for however many games and that way it gives him a better chance to come back midseason which is a possibility, it was a mature decision and i do geniunely believe he is maturing before our eyes because it took a lot of guts to take a risk as he has done now

like i said the LVPD were quick to jump up and down and say it was Pacman, well then ok, ill believe it when you prove it to me, until then leave the guy alone...its interesting also that Pac was with the rapper Nelly at the time of the incident...yet no one has pointed the finger at him and aren't rappers supposed to be just as bad if not worse than NFL players when it comes to commiting crimes? |

| Re: Pacman Jones drops appeal yeah i think he will stay out of trouble, i think this situation has given him a kick up the butt and he has realised that he is on a road to destruction if he carries on the way he has been. in terms of keeping in shape |

| Re: Pacman Jones drops appeal yeah i would assume he could go to Canda, i dont think he would though. and in terms of missing a year of football that could be bad for him if he doesnt keep in shape. it could mean everything from putting on a few pounds like LenDale White has just done, in which case he could loose a few inches on his jumps or slow down by a few seconds and in the game of football a few seconds could mean the diference between getting infront of a reciever when the ball is thrown and over running it and letting him get past you and loose a few inches on a jump could be the difference from jumping for an interception and jumping and having the ball sail right over you for the reciever to catch. i think that is why they say football is a game that demands so much from your body becuase these guys need to be at the peak of fitness and once that drops it could make all the difference |

| Re: Pacman Jones drops appeal yeah i guess so i mean it will be a whole year without a proper hit but there are bound to be doctors and trainers and conditioning coaches on hand to tell him how many hits to take when he gets back and stuff like that. i dont think the mind has a problem wit taking hits but the body definatly wont be prepared for it once he gets back |

Tank Johnson has been convicted and served time - and has been disciplined by Goodell for that conviction - half-a-year suspension. Pacman, on the otherhand, hasn't been convicted of anything, and he bought the season. I'm sorry, but something's wrong with that picture. And then there's the Union's non-involvement with this - WTF? I've argued a negotiated agreement from both sides of the table - as a chief steward and a manager. Generally, a bargaining-unit member should be represented by the Union all the way through abritration. I'm not getting why Pacman has been dealing with this through his own attorneys, which in most cases, forfiets the Union's involvement, including abritration. Otherwise, what's the sense of Pacman appealing this decision to the guy that made the decision??? It absolutely makes no sense, and if I was a dues-paying member of the NFLPA, I'd want my money back. Somethings going to give here: either Goodell or Upshaw - or maybe both - are gone. By nature, Goodell and Upshaw should be adversaries. Meanwhile, Goodell heaped all kinds of praise on Upshaw recently, which doesn't bode well for the bargaining-unit in the eyes of this ex-chief steward. JMHO |
