Herndon To Sign With Titans

A league source tells us that free-agent cornerback Kelly Herndon will sign with the Tennessee Titans on Monday. The deal is expected to be for three years.
Herndon was cut earlier this week by the Seahawks. We heard that the move occurred because new defensive backs coach Jim Mora didn't care much for Herndon. The powers-that-be hoped that Mora would warm up to Herndon. He didn't.
Herndon has drawn interest from several teams. The Titans have a pressing need at the position, given the one-year suspension of cornerback Pacman Jones. Tennessee signed former Colts cornerback Nick Harper via free agency, but Harper has spent most of his career in the Tampa 2 defense, which does not require the corners to spend a lot of time covering receivers down the field.

Re: Herndon To Sign With Titans

So are we looking at Herndon and Harper starting at the corners for the Titans?

dont know yet, you have to place griffin in the mix aswell, th titans #1 pick this last draft, jeff fisher has changed him from safety to cornerback and apparently has done really well, either way its good to know we have someone else just in case..

Re: Herndon To Sign With Titans

i dont think Herndon will start at CB i think it will be Harper and Griffin. they are trying to mould Griffin into a CB pretty much as soon as we drafted him, so i dont think they would go through all of that to leave him on the sidelines.

i would LIKE to see it being Griffin and Harper but it may well be Harper and Herndon starting the season to get Griffin some experience and not throw him into the lions den. i would expect to see Griffin playing a lot in the Saints game and covering Reggie Bush on plays

Titans add Herndon to corner collection

Cornerback Kelly Herndon has agreed to terms on a three-year contract with Tennessee, as the Titans continue working to replenish a secondary expected to be without Adam "Pacman" Jones.

Re: Herndon To Sign With Titans

i think the Pacman is too good a talent to get rid of, i think he has genuinely learned from this whole ordeal not to act the way he has done and if/when he comes back to the team i think we will see a completely different person, but by bringing in Herndon it gives Pacman someone to compete with so its not like "ok serve your suspension and your starting job or even your first back up job, will be waiting for you when you get back" i think he is being made to feel uneasy and being made to feel like you have a lot to pay back to the team so your job isnt garanteed.

although saying that he was progressing nicely as a DB and i think we would be shooting ourseleves in the foot if we lost a return man like him just to prove a point

I agree, also, why hasnt jeff fishers contract been a priority? hes only the head coach who has done wonders with mediocre teams, reese wouldve had this done by now but what scares me is there hasnt even been talks on it..If jeff goes I will be scarred for life..
