Pacman Jones will be allowed inside Baptist Sports Park today for the first time since April 10, when NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell suspended the Titans cornerback for a year.
According to terms of the suspension, Jones will be permitted to spend one day a week at the team facility for conditioning, film study and other "similar activities.'' He is required to meet with Tina Tuggle, the team's player development director, once a week.Coach Jeff Fisher declined to comment, but indications are the Titans will have a structured plan for Jones on the days he is in the building."It's up to the Titans about that and how it works," said Greg Aiello, vice president of public relations for the NFL. "He is eligible to return for limited activities. He can be there to do everything except be on the field for an (organized team activity) or team practice. But he can do everything else there.''Prior to the suspension, Jones rehabbed from shoulder surgery at Baptist Sports Park with strength and conditioning coach Steve Watterson. Since the suspension Jones has been working out on his own in Nashville and Atlanta.Jones appealed his suspension, which was for conduct detrimental to the league on numerous occasions, on May 11 and is awaiting word from Goodell. The appeal process does not affect the conditions for possible reinstatement, including the possibility of Jones being reinstated after 10 games if he meets specific terms.Aiello said he's not expecting a decision on the appeal today."There is no delay, it is just a process. It is a time-consuming process,'' Aiello said. "It is like a legal process, you go back and forth with briefs and you have to analyze a lot of information and respond to information. So we certainly wouldn't agree with the characterization that there is any delay.''
