Peter Sirmon Retires

Peter Sirmon once covered quite a bit of ground pursuing ball carriers during a seven-year NFL career.

Now, Sirmon will cover ground of a different sort as he is announcing his retirement and a decision to enter the field of real estate development.

Sirmon, who has obtained a real estate license, is bringing an end to his career as a linebacker and will join Brentview Realty in Brentwood.

“I’m announcing my retirement,” Sirmon said. “It’s a great opportunity. I’ve had a lot of fun in Nashville, and I want to stay and stick around and it’s time to start pursuing other things.”

Sirmon, 30, turned down a one-year offer from the Arizona Cardinals a few weeks ago as he contemplated whether or not he wanted to continue his NFL career.

“I definitely thought about it, and I just didn’t feel like my heart was in it, and when that’s the case, I knew the end result wasn’t going to be good. You have to make all those sacrifices get your mind ready and get your body ready to play football.”

Re: Peter Sirmon Retires

to be honest i think signing of Gardner and the other masses of LB's brought in made Sirmon think he had no place at tennessee anymore. i think he was hoping that even though he was let free we might re-sign him before the season started and when there werent any signs that we would he decided to leave. he was a very good LB and will be a great loss
