| Givens Out For 2007 Though Titans Coach Jeff Fisher was optimistic WR David Givens would rejoin his team in training camp. Updated reports indicate the Titans may be lucky to get Givens back on the field at all during the '07 season. Givens underwent a second surgery on his left knee six weeks ago and just stopped using a cane two weeks ago. His original surgery last November included a torn ACL along with a broken femur, of which a portion had to be removed. “I did have a lot more extensive knee surgery than just an ACL. I broke my femur behind my knee cap, a pretty big piece of bone,” Givens said. “It was taken out and replaced by bone plugs, some artificial and some of my own bone plugs. With that being a weight-bearing surface, my bone has to grow back, and when that surface has grown back, I should be able to start jogging." The City Paper - Smart, Fast, Free |

| Re: Givens Out For 2007 this is terrible news for the titans and d.givens but there can be a bright side to this.it could make the titans try harder to sign the next big WR in order to replace d.givens for the season.does anyone know anything about what is going to happen to T.O. |

| Re: Givens Out For 2007 i dont think we need to be to worried that he has left a massive hole in the wideout position i mean he wasnt such a big part of the recieving team last year that we will miss his presense, all this does it allowd our new guys to come in and get some more playing time and develop their abilities more. but i dont think the team is done yet in terms of signing recievers, i expect to see us bring in one more veteran presense before the season starts whether that is Justin McCariens or Keyshawn Johnson

| Re: Givens Out For 2007 Titans wide receiver David Givens said he hoped he would be back on the field in 2007, but was unsure of the exact timetable. ''I don't know exactly when,'' Givens said. ''It's kind of a week-to-week thing right now. When I can start doing some pounding on it, I'll know. I'll have a better idea at the time.'' Givens tore his left ACL and meniscus Nov. 12 against Baltimore. The damage was so severe doctors inserted bone plugs to help his knee heal properly. Givens said six weeks ago he underwent a second surgery to help clean out. ''It's going a little slower than I thought it would be,'' Givens said. ''But unfortunately I had to have another surgery about six weeks ago on the same knee.'' Givens's injury kept him out of last week's OTA's and will most likely have him sidelined for training camp in July. However, the sidelines haven't stopped him from mentoring some of the Titans more youthful receivers. ''It's kind of tough watching the guys run around in the heat because I want to be out there,'' Givens said. ''But we have a lot of young guys with a lot of potential. My job right now when I'm not on the field is help those guys the best way I can. I'm trying to give my input.'' Titans Radio: Givens Unsure When He'll Return |
