| Griffin Playing CB The Titans are confident Michael Griffin can play safety. And so he began his career as a Titan working at cornerback as the team begins to figure out how best to use the defensive back they chose 19th in the NFL draft. "It is a learning process right now," Griffin said after his first day of practice with the rest of the rookie class. "I don't think it was an A. I think you can give me an E for effort. I'm just learning and correcting mistakes. It is a learning process now and I have a lot of time before the first game." Coach Jeff Fisher, who has been reluctant in the past to change positions for anything but bottom of the roster players, said the move is natural. "We feel like he has corner skills and we know he can play the other positions," he said. "So we want to get him as familiar as we possibly can at the position as soon as we can. I think he is best suited to play (cornerback). That's what we're doing, and I believe it is going to work out." Griffin wore No. 27 in college and is hoping to wear it with the Titans. One problem: The number belonged to Eddie George and has not been worn since. It's likely headed for retirement. As a joke, Griffin was given Vince Young's No. 10 in the Titans' rookie orientation practices. In the one rookie practice open to the media, he twice went up against third-round receiver Paul Williams and lost on both throws, once over the top and once on a very short crossing pattern.
